The Vertical Interpretation of the Western Poetics of ¡°Defamiliarization¡±
¡ª¡ªFrom Aristotle to Brecht
Abstract: Nowadays, domestic scholars¡¯ discussions and studies on the theory of ¡°Defamiliarization¡± mainly revolve around the definition and the interpretation of the term ¡°Defamiliarization¡± advanced by Russian formalistic literary critic Shklovsky. It seems that the ¡°Defamiliarization¡±is the theory only belong to Shklovsky. However, after studying the history of western literature and art and aesthetics, we will find that this is not the case .The poetics of ¡°Defamiliarization¡± is advanced by Aristotle, developed by Mazzoni, Addison , Hegel and so on, and finally matured by Shklovsky and Brecht. It had experienced three different developmental stage and become a kind of ¡°Poetic¡± theory and tradition with its own position.
