Abstract: With rapid development of globalization, the demand to the intelligences comes to a higher level, the requirement for English teaching of high school is similar to that for college English teaching. Under the background of reform of college English teaching, what`s the direction of college English teaching? The paper disscusses the definition, characteristics and the advantages of ESP and belives that college English teaching will develop to the direction of ESP. It also bring about some ideas involved in ESP.
